Contracts

AI writes the first pass. You edit like a human. Your client signs from their inbox. Five minutes, not five days.

TL;DR

Describe the project in one sentence. The agent drafts a full contract for your jurisdiction (US, UK, EU, AU, CA) and engagement shape (fixed, hourly, retainer, milestone, hybrid). A quality judge flags missing clauses. Send by email, collect a binding e-signature. Unlimited signs on Legend.

Creating a contract

Three paths, depending on how much you already have.

From AI

Fastest path. Describe the project in a sentence. The agent drafts scope, payment terms, milestones, and the standard clauses for your jurisdiction. Edit anything before you send.

Example prompt
Website for a coffee shop. $2,500 with three milestones: design mockups, development, launch. 4-week timeline.

From a template

Already have your own boilerplate? Save it as a template once, reuse it forever. Variables auto-fill on send. More on templates.

From scratch

Click New contract for a blank editor. The AI sits in the side panel if you want help on a specific clause.

Variables

Placeholders that auto-fill on send. Useful for templates and for fields the client provides themselves.

Common built-ins: {{client_name}}, {{client_company}}, {{client_email}}, {{project_name}}, {{total_amount}}, {{today_date}}.

Client-fillable

Mark any variable as client-fillable and it shows up as a form field on the signing page. Use it for the things you don't have yet. Billing addresses. Purchase order numbers. Their company VAT ID.

Milestones

Break a project into phases with deliverables and payment amounts. Each milestone has a title, deliverables, amount, and optional due date. Mark a milestone complete and the invoice for that phase is one click away.

Theming

Themes control colors, fonts, cover page, and logo placement. Set it once in Settings and every new contract uses it. Override per-contract when you need to.

Sending and signing

Click Send to email the client a link. You can sign first or let them sign first. The client opens the link, reads the contract (with an AI helper that explains clauses in plain English), fills any client-fillable variables, and signs by drawing or typing.

Both parties get the signed PDF. A copy lands in the client portal.

Legally binding

Every signature ships with a timestamp, IP address, and full audit trail. Compliant with the ESIGN Act (US) and eIDAS (EU).

No DocuSign tax

Unlimited e-signatures on Legend. No per-envelope fees. Send as many contracts as you want, sign as many as you need.

Status

Contracts move through these stages:

  • Draft. Still editing. Not sent.
  • Sent. Delivered. Waiting on signature.
  • Viewed. Client opened the link.
  • Signed. Client signed. Your turn.
  • Active. Both signed. Work can begin.
  • Completed. All milestones paid. Project done.

Versions and reminders

Accordio auto-saves versions as you edit. View, compare, or restore any earlier version from the editor. If a client hasn't signed, click Remindfor a friendly nudge. Or tell the agent to chase on a schedule. The tone doesn't torch the relationship.

Example prompt
Remind every 5 days if the contract is unsigned after a week. Stop chasing once they sign.
